[The End]
Takes place while Peter is still tied up in the plane
Electricity runs on a loop, touching each nerve ending over and over until it exhausts itself; like Henry and Tex running through the apartment until they both collapse on the floor asleep, Peter thinks. His spine feels like it’s been sizzled. Residual electricity, he thinks. That’s why he feels sizzled. Brain endings fried and Christ his shoulder hurts. That’s what he gets for moving it.
Nathan. He winces, memory coming back in flashes, like the electricity hitting on his synapses. He’d suspected something was wrong the minute he’d stepped in the apartment. Nathan had been waiting for him, Tex hadn’t met him at the door. He wonders for a moment if the dog was alright but Nathan wouldn’t do that.
But then an hour ago Peter would have said Nathan wouldn’t have done this. He’d hugged his brother and his world had exploded into pain and electricity.
He should know by now not to accept hugs from Petrellis. Claire and Sasha excluded but he believes the best of people. He believed that Nathan wanted to mend bridges. Or at least he had wanted to believe that.
He believed that Nathan was better than this. He believed that his brother’s heart was better than this.
He believed.
He believed.
He believed.
He doesn’t anymore. His eyes have been opened. His belief has come to an end because now, he knows.
