OK. Wow it's been a whirlwind of a week. School projects, quizzes, and school drama, jeez it's only been the third week of school! Despite all that, I had a really nice weekend. My former chinese tutor and classmates from my chinese class invited me to go on a trip with them. The destination was a Chinese mall in El Seritto, California. So we drove all the way to Dublin (Yes there is a Dublin in California) to take the BART train. It was my first time riding the BART train, and it was a very relaxing experience. So me and my crew consisted of 3 former chinese classmates (none them were of chinese descent by the way) and my former tutor (also not chinese but can speak mandarin very well), we chatted away to make up for lost time. We finally arrived in El Seritto. I gotta tell ya, the Chinese Mall is so beautiful, quiet, and clean!
Our first stop at the mall was visiting a chinese bakery. OMG there were like cute little traditional chinese sweets everywhere (but I bought the chicken pie instead lol). Next we browsed around a chinese grocery store (yes there was a grocery store inside the mall, deli center included!). I couldn't believe what I found on our next stop. Even before I entered the chinese bookstore, I knew it sold KPOP albums, I am so psychic (it really helped that there were DBSK, SNSD, Wonder Girls, Super Junior, etc. posters hanging on the windows of the store). DEAR LORD, not only did it sold Kpop albums, but also Jpop, albums, and even better-- A BUTTLOAD OF JAY CHOU ALBUMS! When I saw his albums there I literally dropped to my knees and babbled like I went insane or something. In the end, I didn't have enough money for his albums (CRIES FOREVER!!!!!!!!) so I bought Kara's Japanese single for my sister instead, to thank her for getting me hooked on some Jpop. After that we went to a karaoke lounge. I sooooooo fail at singing along to chinese music. The only songs I managed to sing to were from Britney Spears >.> Oh did I mention the Karaoke lounge had SNSD's Gee and Suju's Bonamana playing on their tv screen?
The great thing about the karaoke lounge was that I discovered some more Cpop music. Guo Mei Mei's Bu Pa Bu Pa song has been in my head for the past few days. Da Mouth, an electro-pop/hip hop group from Taiwan, has some really awesome music. Oh and while my tutor was singing along to "Beijing Welcomes You" a song that features a lot of famous chinese stars. Guess who I saw? Han Geng! Glad to see he's doing well in China, and singing with other big name stars. After that we went to eat dinner, chatted a bit more, browse a bit more, we finally decided it was time to head home.
I gotta say I had a good time. I would love to go back there again one day. Maybe someday I will. I guess I will stop typing now and just go lol.
