I know this community is slightly dead, but I've been meaning to post pictures of my room for a while. :) None of my friends quite appreciate its awesomeness. My mom lost the charger for my camera when she borrowed it, so I've been camera-less for a while, but now I have a new charger so I took some pictures! I meant to post them yesterday for George's birthday, but I wound up running out of time.
I read the rules, so I guess I'm supposed to introduce myself. :D My name is Sarah, and my favorite Beatle has always been John for reasons I can't really explain in a reasonable amount of words. I was basically raised on the Beatles - I remember dancing around to Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road when I was a kid - but I really got into them the summer after seventh grade. It was sort of triggered by me seeing this terrible tribute band at the local amusement park (usually it was an Elvis impersonator, but his wife was having a baby or something). I was like, "okay, they suck." And for some reason after that I started listening to the Beatles a lot, and then I got obsessed. I'm a senior in high school now, and I haven't really calmed down since then. My uncle, who lives in Munich, gave me all his Beatles stuff, as he dubbed me a "bigger Beatles fan than him." So I have quite a bit of stuff to share. :)
This is my desk, the main storage place for all my Beatlesy goodness. I'll be basicaly giving you a tour of it, starting at the top and working down.
In the back is a gold Imagine LP, with a piece of the door from Tittenhurst. My aunt gave it to me as a gift for Christmas or my birthday. In the middle is a poster of Beatle Juice which I won in a silent auction and had signed, a local Beatles cover band and the only one that ever actually sounded like the Beatles. Unfortunately, Brad Delp (the singer, who used to be the singer for Boston) committed suicide in 2007, and I haven't seen them since they got a new singer because I'm afraid it wouldn't be the same. Brad was a really cool, genuine guy and we used to have awesome conversations about the Beatles. I also used to take guitar lessons from the guitarist for the group, Dave Mitchell - he is a seriously awesome guitarist, but I seriously suck at guitar. All the way to the right, which you can't really see, is a picture of me at John's star in Hollywood.
Sort of a random pile of stuff. A shirt that says "All You Need Is Love," which never fit me, from the store at "The Beatles Story" in Liverpool, the bag that it came in, and some magazines (half of which have articles about Paul's divorce from that bitch Heather Mills).
Some albums on vinyl (which are collecting dust, since I don't have a turntable), a poster booklet thing, the Beatles Story "Official Souvenier Guide," Die Beatles (which is German for "the Beatles," don't worry :P - my uncle gave it to me since I take German), the Penguin John Lennon, In His Own Write (not the original), A Spaniard in the Works (first edition! :D), The Official Abbey Road Cafe Guide to the Beatles London, a Readers Digest with an excerpt of Bob Spitz's the Beatles, and the Shea Stadium TV Guide.
Lennon by Ray Coleman, Shout! by Philip Norman, The Beatles by Bob Spitz, The Love You Make by Peter Brown and Steven Gaines, the Ultimate Beatles Quiz Book, John Lennon: The Life by Philip Norman, A Hard Day's Night Puzzle, and a Meet the Beatles magnet. :)
A giant stack of CDs (but not all of them - some are scattered around the house), some DVDs (fun with the Fab Four, the Beatles Celebration, The Beatles Unauthorized, Alf Bicknell's Beatles Diary - which is lame - A Hrd Day's Night, Help!, The First U.S. Visit, Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us, and copies of Anthology that my uncle made), some videos (Magical Mystery Tour, a crappy copy of Let It Be recorded off the TV, The Compleat Beatles, and John Lennon Live in New York City), a trivia card game, and a music box I bought in Germany that plays "Let It Be." It used to have a paper box around it, but I wore it out.
A bunch of oversized books over here and some old calendars. Also a British flag that I randomly had.
The corkboard on the back of my desk... Pretty self explainatory.
A guide to some Beatles attractions in Liverpool.
Some more random stuff. The piece of paper is my ticket to see Paul McCartney on 9/27/05. The three tickets to the right are to see Beatle Juice.
Some close-ups.
The surface of my desk is covered in Beatle postcards, with glass on top of it. My uncle used to collect Beatles postcards, and gave them to me. I didn't know what to do with them, so I did this. :P
My oldest poster, on my closet door. I don't even remember how I got this one.
My favorite poster, since it's the most unique. My uncle and I swiped it off of a window in Munich. I mean, there were tons of them, and it was dark, and it was on the outside of the window. It was just asking for it. It's for a cover band, but I love it because it's in German. :D
My newest poster. A friend got it for me for Christmas.
And my favorite guitar. :)
That's all for now! :D
