But it seemed his heart belonged to another
"Where did you hear that?" Bethany demanded instead
"It was a walrus named Fred."
Even that got sniggers and jokes.
Bethany wondered if she could get more by way of a coax.
She didn't like the boy not even a lot.
But a small plan was forming, just a little thought.
"Boy come here." She said all haughty and snooty.
Evan did as he was told and none too cheery.
Following him were sniggers and jeers.
A lesser man would have been brought to tears.
But not Evan Carroll, no, he hid the pain well.
however, what Bethany wanted that he couldn't tell.
"What is this world that you are so quick to flaunt?"
Before he could speak she continued; "All the names that can't be what you want."
He shrugged and smirked. "They're just jealous that I don't need that drug."
She smiled, his tone was smug.
"And why is that, how can you that?"
He shrugged again and didn't answer.
"No matter, tell me of this world, where is it at?"
"It's all in my head, all nice and neat.
Filled with wonderful things it really is a treat."
He continued to explain telling Bethany strange and crazy things.
When she was finished Bethany left him to go home and stew.
There was something she needed to find out if it was true.
"Do you like him?" She asked her sister once home.
"Who do you mean?" asked Rose looking up from her tome.
"George Carroll the one who always looks at you."
Rose raised an eyebrow. "Who?"
That settled it for Bethany her hopes were reinstated.
Her and George, it had to be fated.
He was the one, she finally decided.
The one she pined for, the only one she wanted.
She didn't listen to that little voice when it quietly chided.
He doesn't even know you, what makes you think he's yours it taunted.
Because I always get what I want, and that is quite enough.
Her inner voice didn't dare call her bluff.
Before this plan could be set into motion
There was one more thing, one tiny little notion.
To her father she ranted and raved
She threw a tantrum she wouldn't behave.
"Give me that world daddy, give it to me now!"
"But-"
"I don't care how long it takes and I don't care how!"
"That boy Evan Carroll, he made it, he's the key.
Find some way but give that world to me."
Frederick Redd lost in his daughter's power.
Did as he was told, all for his sweet little flower.
His own henchmen captured Evan a few weeks later.
For the continuance of science, there was no purpose greater.
Or at least that's what he told himself at night before he went to bed.
To Evan strapped to a chair, there were more than a few things loose in the mad scientists' head.
Meanwhile away from the white walls and sterile pointy objects
Bethany and George were a couple, to him she was perfect.
Or at least that's what he told himself before he went to bed.
But as all stories go there was a little twist.
Although I think, now you get the gist.
To fill you in Evan was poked and prodded.
"It's not real." He kept telling them. "It's all a facade!"
He was desperate he explained, all he wanted was the recognition and fame
No one believed him, no one had too.
For Frederick he was just another tool.
After weeks of diligent work he finally found the key.
It was hidden deep in the boys psyche.
A special drug Frederick concocted
All for his darling, hard to please, darling little girl.
The potion she pocketed.
For she was beginning to suspect that treachery was afoot.
By her sister and boyfriend to boot!
But that part you know
You've already been told.
Bethany found Wonderland by drinking the drug
All perfect and neat, a little bug in a rug.
Her evil started warping the strange fragile land
Almost without Evan knowing it, that was her plan
She could dream it just the same as the boy
Oh it was shiny her brand new toy
And now you know the story so lets get back to it.
Poor Evan still stuck at the aquarium, Shelly talking in his ear.
It was almost too much to bear.
Finally he left her, still talking aloud.
He didn't want to be mean but his mind was a dark cloud
Much like the weather his thoughts were dark and stormy.
"Why is this happening to me?"
He got no answer from the tree beside him

Okay, time for bed for me. My thoughts are going every which way.
Night all!
