[Action-y Stuff]

[What a nice, warm day! The birds are a-chirpin', the sun is a-shinin', and everything's calm and casual again.

Perfect. :)

The tree man starts the day by looking left, looking right, and then frolicking to a watering hole created between two large rocks, at the river. He's always preferred them--less chance to be bumped into by ( Read more... )

[Not that he's got a problem with you smelling good food, but-]

Smelling good food? But you can't... [The sentences goes unfinished; he isn't gonna air Ian's business around without permission]

Welll... yeah. But it sure does smell good, doesn't it? And it's sorta like eating, if you think about it. Just not as strong.

[... Heh... he's gotta give you that one.]

Alright. It makes sense, since smell and taste are connected.

Of course! My favoritest smells are pies out of the oven, or Asian food while it's cooking!

Oh, that's a hard one. I thiiiink...! I think my favorite was--well, my mom used to make a chocolate pie that was really something else! It was my favorite smell, back in the village.

A chocolate pie... [It's been a while since he's made something like that, but before his thoughts wander off too far--]

-- Your mom? [That slips out. Ian being a tree and all, he's kinda...

But it's not like you need to have blood relatives to make a family]

Well, my adoptive mom, anyway. She was big on cooking-its the only time she and my old man weren't hating each other or griping. [He laughs softly at that; hard not to, if you knew the couple.] Dinnertime and any time with food before or after? That was the peaceful times in the household.

[Good memories with food as the axle... Sanji can appreciate that]

They sound like quite a pair. [A smile comes unbidden] No wonder you hang out in the restaurant sometimes. [Guess this means he can't start kicking Ian out anytime soon]

Mmm, yup! I always wondered how they ever even married in the first place, they always seemed to have it out for each other.

[And yet Bea cried for hours after Dewey died. It's really something, how they worked.]

It's always nice, to see other people enjoying stuff. Food was just one of those things that seemed like it made people happy, starving or just a little hungry or whatever they might be.

[Barely into the conversation and already Sanji's fingers itch for his cookware. He's hyper aware of how long Seventh Heaven's been closed - and starts wondering how he's managed to stand it]

Aa. Pretty universal, too. Doesn't seem to matter what shitty world someone comes from - you need food to survive.
