"lets go on an adventure"
used to mean "were going to have fun" we didnt know it back then but life was(and still is) simple. lol.
i drove 114miles this weekend. a few times i thought about pulling over and walking out and taking off my shoes on the beach and letting my toes dig through the sand under an umbrella or something. or maybe just color a parking lot with sidewalk chalk. or mixing slupree flavors. or get ice cream at thriftys. or go ice-blocking. or go ding-dong ditching. or sneak into a movie. or find someone to split a BIG brownie at norms with. or try to draw portraits of friends. or write poetry under a tree. or feed ducks at the heavily polluted pond at wilson park. or sit around and listen to old records. or learn to fish. or go down to venice and eat a pizza that id have to fold and feed the crust to sea gulls. or walk the pier and slurp on a bowl of the best clam chowder in the world. or drive through the park. or make a fire and roast marshmellows at skunk lot. or light firecrackers. or go to the cove and find the cliff i used to jump off of. or take a ride on the freeway just to buy roses en espanol from the mexican man waiting at the offramp. or follow some childish urge to go ice skating. or play mario kart. or tp some kids house. or play soccer on the frozen food aisle. or ride a kiyak down a snow hill. or put a few nickels in a parking meter and find the pair of swings on 14th street and ride with my loneliness. or let my imagination tell a story behind the orange machine at juice it up. or jog. or smoke hooka with beach water. or bake cookies. or go collecting sand crabs in a bright red bucket. or riding a bike to nowhere. but i guess im too grown up for all those things now. everyone else grew out of it. i wish i did too.
it was so hard for me to believe we were better off just driving to nowhere.
