There is also the practice of trust funds. Where in young people from wealthy families have money set aside for them from birth that they are legally able to access at a certain adult age - often 21 or 25. I would guess that this is what the pureblood families would do instead of inheritance since there is no telling when mum, dad, granddad, or various other ancestors would kick the proverbial wizarding bucket.
Also there is a story on the Restricted Section that deals with the pressures on females in the wizarding world to bear children at a young age and add to the population. Of course since it's at the Restricted Section so it involves quite a bit of the smut, which is never a bad thing - but it's also all het or femslash. Harry is getting super busy with the ladies cause he's super powerful. Anyway if you want to check it out it's called Transforming Harry
The story idea sounds awesome and I dearly hope that you or someone else writes it. I do have a few requests that I'd like to see addressed - if I might make suggestions? This societal requirement to marry and reproduce before being free to engage in non-reproductive relationships sets up a situation where I dearly would like to see Harry and Ginny's relationship during the actual marriage (not just when Sev finally stands a chance). Did they actually love each other? Did they get married just because they had to have kids? Did they both know going in that they would part ways as soon as possible? And how does this affect the children and the marriage? Were they affectionate or merely civil to each other? Oh this has so many possibilites. I'm almost tempted to play with it myself and I haven't ever written anything before.
