Школьная экскурсия была очень насыщенной и включала в себя посещение 12 интересностей: War Memorial, Parliament House, Royal Australian Mint (монетный двор), AIS (Australian Institute of sport), Reconciliation Place, High Court Of Australia, Mount Ainslie lookout, National Portrait Gallery, National Museum of Australia, National Film and Sound Archives, National Arboretum, Questacon.
А побудила меня написать-таки об этом Дашина же статья, опубликованная на этой неделе в школьной газете - ниже цитата без редактирования, сохраню как есть для истории, только дополню фото - либо Дашиными, либо c их школьного сайта или Твиттера.
Canberra excursion, by Daria 6N
We started off with a very long bus ride early in the morning. On the way our bus driver, Rick, told us lots of interesting facts about Canberra as we passed along the way.
We arrived at Canberra and went to the War memorial for a tour. One I remembered quite well, during the war a soldier was teaching some beginners how to throw grenades and they were using their bully beef (canned corned beef) and accidentally threw it to the Turks. They then got a note saying something along the lines of, “Dear friends, we are very happy that you gave us some yummy food. If you could, please have a trade with us with your beef and our tobacco.”
We then headed off to Parliament House where met Hon Paul Fletcher and asked him some interesting questions.
Then we arrived at the Mint and we were told the very fascinating story of how Australian coins were made and some of us even got to see how their strongest robot, Titan, picked up blanks and I don’t mean just a small box, Titan can lift up to 1000kg! Isn’t that impressive!
Afterwards we arrived at the Canberra Park Resort where we got served a yummy dinner. We then went to the AIS (Australian Institute of sport) for a tour, went back to our accommodation and went to bed.
The next day we woke and had breakfast, and started our busy day at Reconciliation Place where we got told stories of the stolen generation and more. The Reconciliation Place was very informative.
We then drove to the High Court Of Australia where we got to look at the biggest court room in Australia (court room 1) and went to court room 3 and then to court room 2 where we actually got to see a real life case been held which was very exciting.
We then went to Mount Ainslie lookout and had a scrumptious lunch.
We headed off to the National Portrait Gallery and the portraits there were so amazing that if I wasn’t told they were portraits, I would most likely mistake them for photographs. There were also some very impressive sculptures. Our teachers led us on a guided tour.
Then we headed off to the National Museum of Australia and we got to see lots of artefacts that are so incredible that I would love to go there again sometime soon.
Then we went to our accommodation, had dinner and went to the National Film and Sound Archives where we watched the movie, The Man From Snowy River. I think everybody enjoyed it.
Then upon us came the final day at Canberra. We went to the National Arboretum (I don’t really know how to pronounce it!). We saw some fascinating trees. Apparently they have two trees that are extinct in the wild and only they have them! How amazing!
And finally we went to (in some people’s opinions) the best part of our Canberra trip, Questacon!!! YAY!! We had lots of fun and were even shown an extremely impressive, mathematical magic trick! Some people got to go on the freefall and we also went to the gift shop to bring memories back home of our amazing Canberra trip.
We jumped back on our coach ready to go home. Hopping back home we shared our exciting experience with our parents siblings and other relatives!
Знаю, есть еще в Канберре парк миниатюр -
Cockington Green Gardens - так что столица, определенно, неплохой выбор для очередного неожиданного long weekend!
