It seems like forever since I posted. I guess it is easier to update a facebook status than do an actual post. I'll have to try harder. After all, I feel like LJ chronicles my life somewhat. Facebook doesn't.
So Izzie is settling into her new home. She still has some potty training issues, but she is getting better. She has the greatest personality

Hmmm well I love Waterlooplein, if you are at the Dam with in front of you the Madam Tussaud to your left is a small street called the Damstraat which is home to a lovely Goth shop Diabolo, a Hardrock Café, the Headshop (for all your cannabis needs), an Antique Bookshop, fabric shop A. Boeken (where you can buy everything to put together one outrageous costume... including latex, pvc, rubber on the roll) and at the end when you turn to the right a wonderful lunchroom with great bagels right near the canal, when you cross and turn right there's the Waterlooplein market, it's really close to the Jewish Historical Museum.
Stay away from food places -- most horrible food ever at the grill-- in the Damstraat except for the NewYork Pizza :P
There's a great student restaurant right of the Kalverstraat (the street behind it, round about the Waterstone bookstore if I remember correctly), if you're not familiar with Indonesian or Turkish food, I can recommend trying one in the area.
You just missed the exhibition of the Russian Court 19th/20th century in the Hermitage. If you like art-deco you will love the movie theatre the Tuschinski.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuschinski
Keukenhof is in Lisse and not in Amsterdam. I actually visit the castle grounds of the Keukenhof for Castlefest in August.
You could always do the Zaanse Schans with windmills and cheeeeese :P

Yes, we are taking a walking tour of the red light district including a talk by an ex-prostitute. I'm not sure if she is the tour guide or not. It is apparently a popular tour. We thought it would be interesting.
I'm glad you mentioned the Waterlooplein. That was on my list of things we wanted to check out, but forgot.
I've not had Indonesian food, but it sounds like something I would like. We'll have to give it a try. We love Turkish so that might have made it onto the list anyway. :p
I'm bummed we missed the exhibition at the Hermitage. We looked at the website to see if it was still there. Oh well. I guess that is another reason to visit St. Petersburg, eh?
Thank you so much for your advice!
