SCA

Lately, my husband and I have been thinking about playing with the SCA again. I think we would seriously consider it if we were able to find something relatively close to us. Going down to London regularly is just way too much of a pain in the ass. And expensive too. Yesterday, I asked someone on my Facebook friend's list if she was active in the SCA. She befriended me after seeing me on a FB group about some former LARPers who were trying to start a group in Coventry. (They didn't) I thought she was in the Coventry area which is about a 45 minute drive from our house. Turns out that she actually lives very near where my husband works. And her husband works in the same place though they don't know each other. She is very active in the SCA and plays with Flintheath. As I recall, that group is just east of Cambridge which would likely be a pain to get to on a regular basis because of the traffic on the A14. With no traffic, it would probably be nearly 1 1/2 drive each way. Definitely not bad for events (We have driven 5 or more hours to an event in Meridies), but might be yucky for weekly meetings. So anyway, she expressed wanting to find folks to do stuff more local to us which would be great. She also mentioned an event which is happening on the 31st very close to where she lives (about 30 mins from us). I explained that we have a ball with our dance group that night, but that we might be interested in going to the next event. Well, this morning my husband said that he thinks he would rather go to the SCA event than to the ball. It doesn't change my prep much as I think we had decided to wear some old garb to the ball anyway. I still need to find it though. I know which room it is in which is a start. I can't wait until we have everything unpacked.
