Lovely Linen

The linen I ordered arrived yesterday. The sunshine is a brighter yellow than the swatch implied, but I still think it will work well for the lining of the pelisse. The daffodil which appeared to have a brownish tone on the computer screen, is actually very yellow. It is the same tone as the sunshine only a bit paler. Still pretty though. The beige is exactly as I had hoped! It is a gorgeous pale pale pink/blush color and will be lovely with the other fabric. Now I have to decide which will be the undergown and which will be the overgown. I'm doing a version of the gothic fitted dress with it and another piece of linen I have in a color called english rose (which is not a "rose" at all but more of a coral color).

Speaking of the pelisse, on Friday I am going on my first trip to the fabric shops in Shepherds Bush! I'm taking a swatch of my pelisse fabric to try and match the yellow embroidered leaves on it.

This fabric has a good weight to it so the fabric for the border trim needs to be somewhat substantial. I would love to find a velvet or velveteen in the yellow, but I will take what I can get. My backup plan is to go with a dark red trim maybe piped in a matching yellow. I was actually thinking of doing some piping even if I can find the yellow. I was thinking of piping the yellow in dark red. I haven't done my color drawings yet so that will help me decide. Once I am ready to start, I'll post the drawings to start my dress diary. I haven't really sewed anything major in a couple of years so I am really excited to get back at it!! My husband has verified that I am getting the yummy new machine for my birthday. So I leave next month to go back to America to get my doggies and then I'll get it when I come back. Woo!
