As it turns out, we didn't go to the Regency dance class tonight. After reviewing the schedule, we realized that we wouldn't be able to attend any of the sessions in May due to David's alternating work schedule and they don't have any classes during the summer. So we would go tonight and then not go again until September. We decided to wait. Just

I really want to go, but this might not be our year. My mother in law is coming for a two week visit in October and David and I will likely be off work for the whole of it*. Might be a bit much to also take some time in September as well. We haven't completely ruled it out though. I'd really like to participate in the promenade during the first weekend. Of course, I'll have to get my pelisse and bonnet finished. "Finished" of course also means "started". :p

*The visit will be lovely. We are spending their first two days in London and then driving down to Brighton on the morning of the 3rd day. Overnight there and then driving along the coast to Dover on the 4th morning. Spending some time there and probably visiting the castle before driving that evening to Canterbury. We will spend the night there and see the Cathedral in the morning along with anything else which finds our fancy and then drive to our house in Northamptonshire. We will rest a day or so and then drive to Bath. We will probably stay two nights in that general area becaus we want to see Bath, Stonehenge and drive around the Cotswolds a bit including Lacock. Then back home for a day before they return to America. -- I generally don't post things about my life in this journal as I keep this specific for costuming stuff, but I thought you might find this interesting. :) Please feel free to take a look at my other one (linked on the left) if you are ever interested in my normal nonsense.

my goodness, they won't know what's hit them! you're packing a lot in! i envy you your trip to lacock, the only time i've been we were with my grandmother and we were on our way home from bath and wanted somewhere nice to break for lunch. she was very frail by this point and we had to find a pub or something with disabled access, knowing lacock is used for so many period dramas you can imagine this was a no hoper! it look lovely though, we drove round 3 times so i could see it!

My husband's grandmother (who is 92) is very frail and suffers from memory problems (dementia). She lives with David's mom and would normally accompany her/us on this vacation. Because she gets so easily tired and can get confused, she goes by wheelchair most of the time. She is a trooper though and has gone to France (she is French) and Canada and Disneyworld and all over. We love her! However, my mother in law's sister is going to have her come visit with her so she will not be joining us this time. We'll miss her, but it will be easier. As you noted, they aren't likely to change a 12th century castle to put in an elevator.
