Sewing:
I had a semi-productive weekend sewing wise. I put together two shifts/smocks, a headwrap and an apron. I still have to do the handwork on them (hems and such). I don't know what I was thinking when I decided on the measurements for the shifts, but they are HUGE. I had David try one on and they pretty much fit him! If they weren't a bit too snug in the underarm area, I'd just turn them into shirts for him. So I have decided that I will slice them down the center front and center back, hack a bit off and sew them back together. I know that it isn't period to have a center front/back seam for the 15th century, but no one is going to see them anyway. I'll make new ones later. Out of the rest of this linen bolt, I need to make David at least 2 shirts, at least two pairs of braies and a rabbit ear coif (aka proto-coif) for me. I was given a coif by someone in our group, but I can't get it to stay on my head. Actually, that isn't quite accurate. I can't get it to the point where it could stay on my head. I think it might be too small. Or something. Not sure.
Ghost:
I had the strangest thing happen Saturday night. Now, keep in mind that I am an extremely light sleeper. The fridge's fan can go on downstairs and wake me up. Seriously, it sucks. Anyway... I was sleeping as I normally do: on my side, bottom leg straight and the other leg bent and forward. I had my toes peeking out of the covers (per usual) as my feet get hot. Allie (our dachshund) was laying against my leg. Suddenly I woke up because I felt a hand on my foot. And it pushed the cover up so that my foot was exposed nearly to the ankle. I swear its true. I literally felt all five fingers and the pressure of a hand. It wasn't completely black in the room so I could see there was no one there. Allie was still sleeping next to my leg. David was still sleeping next to me. Izzy was in her crate next to the bed (she falls asleep with us but then likes to go into her crate). I was a bit freaked out. I tried to think of a rational explanation. Allie could have moved and pulled the covers up but I would have felt her move especially the amount she would have had to move to disrupt the covers that much. There was a tag on the bottom of the comforter, but I don't think it would feel like a hand, know what I mean? It's a mystery!
We have had some strange happenings before as some of you have read previously in this blog, but things have been pretty quiet for the last couple of months. The only other thing that happened was about a week or so ago, there was something laying in the doorway of our bedroom when we woke up that wasn't there when we went to bed. The dogs couldn't have done it because Allie was still in the bed and she can't get back up if she jumps down and Izzy was in her crate. David didn't get up all night. Nor did I. Weirdness!
Feast:
On Saturday evening, David and I went to
mlsdesigns for a Thai feast. We don't participate in the Victorian dance group any more so we don't get to see them much. Plus, her sister
corchen was home and it was a bonus to be able to see her too. Megan absolutely outdid herself! There were so many dishes and everything was delish! Plus it was fun to spend time with the three of them. I miss them so much. Hopefully we won't wait so long in between visits. And once my foot decides I can drive again, it will be easier to get together during the day.
Health:
Driving home from Megan's, I felt a sort of tickle in my throat. Not really a tickle... felt a bit like a cornflake was stuck in the back of my throat. Hard to describe. Anyway, I didn't feel sick or anything, just that. I woke up on Sunday with no voice. Still have no voice. I don't have a sore throat or otherwise feel sick so I think maybe a little bit of an allergy or something? Gonna suck on some halls throat thingies today to see if that helps.
The ankle... *sigh* Last Friday was two weeks since I had my cast off. At first the foot was VERY swollen. I went to Physio on Tuesday and Thursday and was much improved after that first week. Then that weekend, I stepped wrong on a brick that was a bit higher than the ones around it and turned my ankle. Ugh. And that basically put me back at square one. I had to stop all of my physio exercises and wait for it to heal. When I went this past Tuesday and Thursday he did some electric thingie that is supposed to help with the internal inflammation. He told me that after the first week, he thought I would probably only need a couple of weeks of therapy. But now he thinks I will probably be in therapy through March. Bummer. Yesterday and today it has been feeling much better so hopefully when I see him tomorrow, he will let me go back to doing my exercises. They were helping with my flexibility a lot.
Photos:
I know I haven't finished putting up the pictures from our cruise. I really want to do that especially as I have some costume oriented ones from the Palace in Seville. It just takes forever to post them on LJ because you have to upload one at a time. Even if I put them on photobucket, you still have to upload them from there one at a time. I've been waiting because I want to switch my two laptops so maybe I need to make that a priority. I can always work on some of the hand sewing while the pictures are uploading.
