Last week started summer class for me in New Brunswick. This is my first summer course while at Rutgers, and I have to be honest, it's not that easy. Every morning Monday - Thursday i get up at 7am, drive to school, drive back home and on Monday and Wednesday i go straight to work. I decided to take an easy course, and by easy i mean not easy at all. The craziest part is, this course is not even a required course for a Physics degree; however, my one professor told me it is one of the most useful mathematics courses to a physicist. I guess i should tell you what it is I am taking. I decided to take Linear Algebra, not to be confused with regular algebra. Linear Algebra is a study of matrices in any n space of real numbers, as well as sub-space. It encompasses matrix-vector products, matrix products, rotational matrices, LU decompositions, and Orthogonality. The concepts are not that hard to grasp, rather, it's the fast pace barrage of a multitude of rules as well as homework. Every day we cover 1 - 3 sections, each containing about 20 to 30 homework problems. Then on Thursday's we are given a quiz on the information gathered during the week. There is a midterm and a final, both of which are cumulative. I will have to say, the hardest part about this course is the amount of rules there are, each changes for every section, none of which follow a traditional algebra course. I am ashamed to say that this may be the first B+ i will have received, slightly messing up the G.P.A. but not by much. I am very tired staying up until 1 to 2 am then getting to bed waking up at 7 and making the journey. When i sit down at home to relax for a few minutes, I somehow end up falling asleep for a few hours. Only 4 more weeks to go, and i can again become human.
