MEME: Why that character?

Today's meme was suggested by Nix!
Comment with the pups you play and explain what made you feel compelled to play them. What was it about that character in particular that latched on and wouldn't relent until you apped them? Looking at who you play now and who you're considering playing in the future, what similarities are there, if any? Do you ( Read more... )

Oh this is a fun one, I'll be brave and go first.

Jack O'Neill Jack is one of many Big Damn Heroes I have played/play currently. He isn't my usual type if only because despite of a lot of hard situations he has been presented with he's not particularly emo. He's also funny, something I am decidedly not, so sometimes it's hard to get the voice down. I love Jack because he's self-deprecating and has a big heart.

Jacob Black If Jack isn't my type, Jacob most assuredly is. He's moody, he's a teenager and he's a werewolf, which is something that always pings me. I have wolves everywhere on my desk so it's no wonder the werewolf lunged me. Jacob is also an underdeveloped character in a canon that gave him the shaft, which gives me a lot to work with developing his quirks via RP.

Princess Zelda Zelda is my female archetype: broken doll. She's a badass in canon but he has flaws and without the advantages of her goddess-level powers, she's just a girl with abandonment and attachment issues. I actually have to think a lot to play Zelda ( ... )

Kate Freelander badass badgirl with a squishy center. Kate's like most of my girls, tough, take no prisoners, don't need you or anyone on the outside but wants, more than anything, a home and a family and reasons to be good.

Coming eventually (given retirement etc): Daniel Jackson crouching genius hidden badass. Daniel's brilliant, emotionally available but emotionally stunted, possesses extreme moral clarity and is surprisingly badass when decisive action's needed and on a quest for truth.

Sayid Jarrah: badass brilliant badman on a roadtrip to redemption. Sayid did some bad things, but he's determined to be a better man than he was, plus he's surprisingly sweet and very sexy.

Emma Snow, Kono Kalakaua, Ziva David, Duke Crocker... pattern forming ( ... )

When I app, I app for the long haul. I'm a long con... I mean, long plot arc kind of girl and I think most of pup choices tend to reflect that? When I look for pups I look for pups who will challenge me as a player and characters who I can develop. I also seem to have a thing for pups who can be both good and bad or strong and fragile, that sort of weird dynamic ( ... )

I play this game because I like to write. I've been writing professionally for seven years, and I've been writing fan fiction since I was fourteen (which, sad to say, was a quarter century ago -- urk!!). So I'm always interested in stories with a science fiction/fantasy flare, and I'm a sucker for young adult material because the coming-of-age story is just so powerful. I was drawn to Tabula Rasa because the concept was so big and yet so simple: it's a fan fiction cornucopia, using a pretty simple premise to allow the characters to interact with each other and interesting things happen. When I stumbled upon this game, I knew i had to play it. But how could I get in?

I chose Polly O'Keefe because I saw an intriguing plot right from the get-go. Polly's parents, Meg Murry and Calvin O'Keefe were already in the game, but they were nineteen (not forty-two or so, as they were at Polly's point of the canon). How would mother, father and daughter react to be thrust together so? Well, a lot of fun was had, I must say. I'd like to thank Catie ( ... )

Cable: Is the last survivor of my four cynical yet devoted elder statesmen. (The other three being Lord Davos Seaworth, Hand of the King; Harriet Jones, former Prime Minister and Xavier Desmond, the Mayor of Jokertown.) They are all basically the same archtype. They're old or at least much older than the majority of pups, they've had a long life well lived and so slot into a mentor role on the Island. They all came out of that long life in a position of power but only after spending years as an underdog and clawing their way up. And they are all basically idealists with a hard streak, they're not naive or soft or incapable of ruthlessness but there's a loyalty to a cause in there that even full knowledge of lifes nasty side hasn't managed to dim ( ... )

And Cable loves pretty much everyone you play. I FULLY INTEND TO COLLECT THE WHOLE SET.

And, yeah, Jackrum has been someone I've been thinking about for like four years since before I even apped my first character here. I worry he's too bound up in his army niche to be playable outside it but oh I love him.
