Seifer had been defeated. It had been a battle he couldn't afford to lose, one which his sorceress couldn't afford him to lose, and he had lost. And afterwards, when he'd thought he'd recovered enough to redeem himself, he'd stood up on a beach instead. Discarded and trapped too far away to be of any help.

It left a rage in him, a despair, and it was all he could do to keep his cool, to stop himself grabbing his sword and charging around madly. As it happened, he was lucky. An 'old friend' found him, instead.

"Taking a walk, Chicken Wuss," he replied with a sneer. "What's it look like?"

"Just now," Seifer replied with the same sneer. "I wouldn't let myself be trapped anywhere for long."

"Why don't you make yourself useful then, Chicken?" Seifer smirked in reply. "And bring me someone worth speaking to."

"Yeah?" he turned away, with casual contempt. "Sure do squawk a lot."

"Just like old times?" Seifer replied. "No, I have no plans of sticking around this dump."

"Just keep out of my way," Seifer replied. "And I'll get things sorted."
