Well, John is far from perfect himself. It's why they work so well together, I think. Of all the pairings I've ever read, I really like the Mcshep dynamic best.

Perfect! John has Rodney and Rodney has coffee. Mmmmm. I love the 'disappearing' hands and the chain of John's dog tags. GLOMP

It's the circle of love, really. And, YAY, I'm glad someone noticed the dog tags. I make a point to include them in every drawing I do of John. It's such an simple thing to include, but they're maybe my favorite part.

Very nice. I like the expressions on their faces, and John hugging; touching bare flesh. Rodney has his coffee and John has his dog tags on.

That look would be the opposite of the "We're all going to die and I don't know if there's anything I can do about it, maybe it's a good time for a suicide mission" look. This is probably the only thing Rodney's happy to do before his morning coffee.
