Quaintrelle Girls and Bathing

Sep 03, 2011 21:03

Hello everyone! I've decided to open an online store catering to, naturally, quaintrelles, princesses, lolitas, and lovelies of all types. The product I am beginning to produce now are handmade, organic & vegan bath salts. Since this is my target audience, I would like a bit of feedback on this topic, if you would please spare a few moments to help ( ... )

I'm not big on buying necessarily, but I am big on product design and descriptions, so I will try to answer those questions for you. ^^

My first suggestion is some proofreading, so here you go: "fatique" should be "fatigue"and then "moisturizing".

1. I think your options are very nice. You might just start with these and then expand your options as you begin to sell the salts, or just make a few of each and then produce more of the ones that are selling. It's easier to make them in big batches normally, I know. >_< But this might just help so you don't waste supplies on options that aren't as popular. You could eventually even expand to do matching soap bars! A calming bath with chamomile might be a good option to have because that's often what people look for in a bath. I'm sure that something with rose would be popular. Write up a couple of really royal-sounding descriptions, with wealth in mind. The Old-Fashioned Spice Bath sounds quaint and exotic, which is good ( ... )

Thank you so much for such a quick response!! Thank you for proof-reading for me- the descriptions I provided aren't going to be the final descriptions for the products- they are simply a shorthand description for the purpose of this post. I'll change those words before I finalize the descriptions, thank you <3

Chamomile is a good idea! If I were to make a calming bath, I was thinking lavender and vanilla- but those are such popular options, I think chamomile may be a better choice. Thank you for that!

I think that royal-sounding descriptions would be very interesting and really go along with the theme of my shop.

I agree that proofreading is important... make sure your punctuation is perfect, too. : )

I like the options, and they all sound really nice. A soothing option, like chamomile or lavender, would be great (I am not a big vanilla person - I personally don't like anything that smells like baked goods or fruit, except citrus). I think the jars you described sound good; I would probably buy a gift-size to test, and if I liked it, I'd get a bigger one. You could always do a gift set of all the little ones for a set price.

I'm with divine_fanticy on this one. I make all my own stuff like that, so if I buy it, it is usually the marketing appealing to me!

Buying stuff in the US from Australia can be a total pain, the postage/shipping cost is never clear, If you can make it clear I would be more likely to buy there, otherwise I usually stick to Australian sites.
A glass bottle would add horribly to the cost of shipping. I would suggest a pouch, perhaps as an option as well as the glass bottles.

Packaging and presentation of your website is so important, a chance to really be selling the feeling/image of the product. Also ease of use of the website. I hate having to click heaps of times to get to the products! Same with other friends I know, too.

1. The first and last varities sound nice, and it's probably wise to start out small with limited varieties and build from there as you gain more customers and can tailor your items and stock more accordingly.

3. I love nice packaging, the prettier the better. My bath products are out on "display" generally, so I want them to look nice. I prefer jars and bottles.

Really, I'm in agreement with everyone elses points.

I'm a bath salts girl.
You seem to have covered the scents quite nicely. (My fav is the Spice bath).

I'd vote a fancy border, and writing of the name, and your name so we can remember where we got it from (salts can stay in the cupboard for awhile sometimes).

5 use, definitely! Or more!

1 use for sampling.

I can't comment on price, because I don't know how much oil/what quality you'll be using, but looking in Etsy should give you a good idea of competitive pricing.

I much prefer bottles, but since I'm in Oz, I guess pouches, for OS shipping at least.
