hold me closer

It was something like 40 degrees today and I was at work for five hours so when I came out of the nice, cool, air-conditioned shopping centre I was literally hit with the heat. Then I had to walk home. Yuck. There was a thunderstorm this afternoon though, which was all sorts of cool.

I went to the library and borrowed a bunch of books in order to try and reduce the amount of money I spend on frivolous things. One of them was A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray which I didn't expect to find as enjoyable as I did. It's a gothic thriller about a girl who gets sent to boarding school after the strange death of her mother. It was a slightly dull in the middle and I totally called the diary thing but I finished it in an afternoon so I guess that's something. Also finally managed to get my hands on a copy of A History of Love by Nicole Krauss (did you know she's married to Jonathan Safran Foer? Interesting.) but I think I'll save judgement until another read-through.

Speaking of reading, I mentioned that camelotsolstice reveals were up in my last drive by post and there are some great stories over there which you should definitely check out. I got a fabulous Oliver-twist inspired fic called One of Us by valderys and wrote a schmoopy rom-com type thing for itachitachi  about internet dating which I don't think I can be bothered re-posting so it'll probably stay over there. For future reference and convenience though, the summary and link:
