yes pink cake is super sweet, and the cake and ice cream is pretty sweet too --- they are in fact both "sweetened" balms so that might be what is too much for you. Or just the cake flavor itself I've had people say is sickly sweet to them (same goes for buttercream) so you might avoid any cakes all together.
for mellow vanilla it would need to be just plain old vanilla then. the vanilla ice cream is an excellent flavor- but I could see how it might be kind of a sweet and creamy flavor to people that aren't into sweet. all the other vanillas: irish cream, french vanilla, vanilla buttercream, vanilla icing, snow cream, vanilla sugar -- are strong &/or sweet &/or creamy.
what about vanilla grapefruit? that is vanilla and citrus and one kind of mellows the other so neither is too strong. & the same goes for coconut lemongrass i think thats a not so in your face powerful citrus like a lot of them can be. maybe any of the "& creams" might be good for you since they are all mellowed versions of the dominant flavor as well: banana cream, orange creamsicle, strawberries & cream, coconut cream, lemon meringue (not & cream- but it is in the recipe), etc..
