I had a really great weekend. I had company over, I bought yarn, I finished the last hat of the ones I made for the guys at work.
Last night felt out of sorts though, I made chicken chili but had too many jalepenos in it so it was not as comforting as I would have liked. It's been cold and wet, and the too spicy chili was not warm and cosy. So I had a double hot chocolate and that relaxed me. I slept very very well.
Today, cold and wet again. People coming in and out causing cold drafts at work, and I've had a space heater right under my feet all day fighting off the cold. We had a bid were getting ready for and the fax machine was ringing off the hook, and it rings just like the voice line, so I'm having to constantly look away from my work to see if it's a call I need to answer. So my concentration has been constantly interrupted.
So to escape the fax machine, I went to King's Smokehouse for lunch (at the former location of Tienda Jalisco on 4th and Main) The BBQ was pretty good. I'm quite stuffed and I also have leftovers. They now have decent indoor heating there so it was cozy enough, but I was cold again by the time I went back to work.
I have to go represent my neighborhood at the safety meeting and am waiting to have reports turned into me. We've also had a lot of special permits being requested in our community so there's been extra time to contact residents about those items to let them know what some of it is about. So it's been frantic and hectic and I feel pulled in all directions at once.
I'm really really glad I just had a very relaxing and calm weekend, and got lots of sleep beforehand. It makes it a lot easier to deal with. I got a lot of cleaning done before the company came, and I'm a lot closer to getting the dining room table cleared off. I'm thinking about moving the file cabinets around so I can open them up and do filing during commercials. That may be my only defense.
I'm also thinking about biting the bullet and just spending the money on a really good cross-cut shredder, so I can get rid of a lot of old documents. The paper tiger is what is causing most of my clutter at home. Everything else (short maybe one bookcase) has some sort of place it can go. I'd like to have large table surfaces again to use at a moments notice when I need to spread out.
More later.
