So we have been having problems with the video card on our main desktop dying. My first thought was to replace the card I had, one by ATI, with a somewhat newer version of the same brand. I think I spent a good 30 hours trying to get this new ATI card that I had gotten cheap, but new, to work with the desktop. I finally gave up and decided to purchase an equivalent card from nVidia. It was here today when I got back from Canada, so I decided I would try to install it. Basically give it one try and then go to bed after I figured out I would need to do something else to the computer to get "this" card to work. I think it took me all of 20 minutes to remove and uninstall the ailing ATI and add and install the nVidia.. I didn't even have to load the driver because XP was actually able to find it all by itself.
Lesson for Today: ATI can go suck eggs...
