Punctuation as a Poetic Devise

Mar 03, 2005 06:04

The assignment was to focus on our use of grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.

Moments for Instants

Inhale.

,in the first dry breath of a newborn
babe before he cries,

Here.

,as saltwater fills the lungs
of a drowning diver,

Lost.

,as the candle flame is blown severed
from the wick devouring itself,

There.

,in the frozen spark that cuts the air
from my lips to yours,

Then.

,in the dark dumb fog of my chest
just before I speak to say,

Silence.

,the instant just before you know
what everything is,

Nothing.
