Response I received from the breeder:

Basically, he was not "socialized" as a pup and is pretty fearful of
strangers, tho he's GREAT at home with people he knows. He's gonna
take a ALOT of time to get over his fear. Then, probably because of
the fear, he developed Demodex around his eyes when he went to a new
home, so they returned him. (IF you are not familiar with Demodex,
you need to read up on it on the computer, so you will know what you
might be getting into with him...)

I raise and sell Giant Schnauzers and this is the FIRST one that's
ever had a "skin problem". I'm not sure where it came from, as the
other pups in the litter did not get Demodex. And NEITHER Parent had
it! I'm pretty sure it cropped out on him from the Stress of being
so afraid. (I had not got him sold as a pup, and he was about 6
months old when he went to his new family. I just figured he'd "come
out of it" and get to liking the new people and be happy. BUT, they
said he Stayed very fearful (tho NOT AGGRESSIVE-- just scared!) the
whole time they had him and then he developed the Demodex, and they
just decided they did not want him. -- I gave them a new pup for
FREE and I paid their Vet bills on him, so don't think I
am "screwing people" as I'm not. I never would of sold this pup had
I known he might be susceptible to Demodex!!) It is "MY" feeling
that when this pup goes into a new home again, the Demodex will
probably "flare up" again and be a pain in the butt to deal with for
awhile, BUT I also "feel" that once he is settled and happy in his
new home (and that could be a few months!) that he will "probably"
not have any more problems with the Demodex. BUT, that is just MY
feeling on it. As you may know, sometimes Demodex can cause problems
for LIFE in a dog. There is just no way of knowing, for "Sure".

Otherwise, he is a very well bred and NICE LOOKING Giant Schnauzer.
I would, of course require he is neutered, just in case the Demodex
is hereditary. (And the stress of neutering may cause it to flare
up, also!) If I have PROOF that THIS PUP is neutered, then I would
happily give you the papers on him, if you want them. I just don't
want him used for breeding.

His parents are "X" and "X". You can see their pictures and
pedigrees on my website if you like.

If you think you might be interested in this guy (the people that
bought him and then exchanged him named him "Bear") then please let
me know. I just want him to have HAPPY, LOVING home where he can
learn to feel safe and secure and be happy. And cared for if his
health requires it. THANK YOU very much for contacting me about him.
