[Background info]
Phoenix Wright was considered an "Ace Attorney" in his younger days. He managed to turn entire cases around when it seemed like things were looking bad, and managed to be righteous in the end as well. With a near-perfect win record, he went on to being titled the "Legendary Phoenix Wright" to some, only having lost one case (on purpose, though, and totally willingly). In his latest case, he was disbarred for presenting forged evidence, which was actually a scheme plotted by his "friend", Kristoph Gavin (Klavier's older brother), and this was the beginning of the Apollo Justice series.
For seven years, Phoenix lived with his adopted daughter Trucy, living as a "pianist" at a nearby Russian restaurant. His real job was actually playing poker with interested customers, because he was supposedly the "undefeated champion of poker". However, there was trick to this, because although Phoenix is a very gifted poker player, it's impossible to be completely undefeated. His daughter Trucy has a certain ability that allows her to see people's nervous habits, and that was the key to his success, so to speak. Also during this time, he has been investigating the mystery behind the trial of Zak Gramarye (Trucy's biological father) and behind his own disbarrment, which was strange to him in the beginning. All he wanted to know was the truth, which drove him to conduct these investigations.
After clearing his name after all those years, he's been reconsidering law, but nobody is really quite sure as to what Phoenix will do from now on, job-wise. He did mention wanting to continue watching over Trucy and Apollo, so he'll most likely just be around the office to help Apollo.
[Personality]
In the first few games, he seemed rather high-strung, but over the years, his uptight mannerisms faded a little (some would say "too much"). An example would be where Apollo realizes that Phoenix had slipped him a bit of forged evidence himself, and thinks that Phoenix has lost his repsect for upholding the law - this little outburst results in Apollo punching Phoenix in the face.
Phoenix has his good qualities: confidence, intelligence and positive attitude. Overall, he's a nice guy, laid-back, but serious when he needs to be, and has a dry sense of humor which he tends not to show too much. The game makes him appear to be some totally sardonic and vague person, who turned into a lazy bum (lol), but he still has some of his similar qualities from the Phoenix Wright games. It's usually when he's talking to Apollo that he's quite vague, especially when it comes to hinting at things for his cases.
[Abilities]
Nothing beyond the abilities of a normal human being. He likes to be involved with the law, even after becoming a pianist. He still has a taste for it, and even the judge acknowledges that Phoenix Wright still belongs in a court room despite all those years since his disbarrment.
[Other important facts]
He plays poker rather well, even without Trucy's help. At least, BETTER THAN KRISTOPH. WHO SUCKS AT IT. One of his obsessions is grape juice. He is seen drinking it almost all the time. The blue hat on his head was made by his daughter, Trucy, only indicated to be done so by the fact that it reads "PaPa" on the side.
[Sample post]
It might just be me, but this place has a sense of nostalgia to it. Odd. In a way, I'm pretty glad that I took the train rather than just walking today. I probably never would've guessed that there was as such a strange place as this-- a rainbow-coloured apartment building? See, that is something worth paying $1.25 for, to be honest. Maybe I should've brought Trucy and Apollo along. ...Apollo would have to pay for his own ticket, of course.
While this place is nice, and as much as I would like a small get-away, I don't think it's exactly the best time for me to be relaxing like this. I do have a small girl with a big stomach to feed back home, and a little greenhorn attorney to guide. I have confidence that they'll be fine by themselves, but I don't want Trucy to think I'm not doing my job!
