Garnet was watching the dolphins down below the cliff, clearly having their own particular fun in the foamy surf. There was a warm breeze blowing, though at her height, it was a bit stronger. Movement at the corner of her eye caused the blonde woman to straighten slightly and look down to the path leading up to the lighthouse.

Three children were heading her way, and she smiled. Twice a week, once school was out, the Donnelly children came to see her. Usually, they came with mail or some other delivery that was for her, as their father was the temporary postmaster.

Of course, he'd held that post for the better part of six years, but still told anyone who asked that he was holding the position until a qualified officer arrived.

When Sarah, the oldest, spotted Garnet atop the lighthouse tower, the girl stopped and started waving. Her younger siblings - sister Molly and brother James - stopped and waved, as well.

"The dolphins are back!" Garnet called down, and then waved for the children to join her. All three started running for the doorway and, as they neared the structure, Garnet's grip tightened on the railing. "Be careful coming up!"

Technically, only authorized personnel were allowed into the lighthouse, but the children knew the rules. Their parents had grown up with Garnet, and knew the children would be in safe hands.

After all... they'd done the same thing at that age.

Garnet kept an eye on the dolphins, hoping they stayed in the area long enough for the kids to see them, but stepped back into the lantern room so that she could hear the children coming. Naturally, Molly was the first up the steps, because Sarah always stayed back to help James.

Once all three children were at the top, Garnet stepped out of the doorway and gave them access to the platform. Each of the children took care to step out, knowing to hold the railing and adjust their footing with the wind.

"Where are they?" Molly called out, impatiently. Garnet knelt down behind her and pointed out, so that Molly could follow her arm and finger.

"Right there."

"I see them!" she called happily. Sarah was tall enough that she could see the dolphins without help, but James was still small enough that where he needed to look was blocked by the railing. Sarah traded places with Garnet and hooked an arm around her sister, to help keep the younger girl steady. Garnet picked James up and smiled as his forehead pressed against her cheek. Turning her body in the right direction, Garnet faced the dolphins and pointed straight out.

"See them, James?" James pulled away after a moment and stretched his neck, smiling brighter than the light rotating behind them.

"Hu-low, do-fins!" he called into the wind.
