Audrey was really looking forward to the new chapter in her life. Okay, she hadn't been terribly fond of the idea of leaving California, but El'Ari had a great job waiting for her on the opposite coast and the brunette was so excited. Audrey loved seeing her wife smile, and El's enthusiasm was infectious.

Once they moved and settled in their new home - Elly had bought her a house! - Audrey and El decided that she should take a break from work and just enjoy having some free time. Audrey been working non-stop, since high school, and the idea of just relaxing was awfully enticing.

She explored the shops in town, and the towns nearby; she saw the historic sites in the area; and she traveled south to get a look at the Atlantic Ocean. Most days, though, Audrey just stayed home. She'd flip channels for a while, then turn the radio on; if the weather was nice, she'd water the flowers in her yard or take a jog around the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, Audrey only was able to make it about two weeks before she was ready to pull her hair out. El's new job was keeping her away from home much more than either of them had anticipated, so Audrey found herself with very long and lonely days and nights, stuck in a new town and not knowing anyone.

There had been a part-time job at a dance studio, but the young woman running the place decided to move to Boston, so that she and her boyfriend could give things another try. The public library didn't need any more volunteers, regardless of Audrey's education and work experience with the San Diego Public Library system.

So her mornings were spent wandering the Garden Department at the nearby Home Depot, and her afternoons were spent watching the Food Network and playing Candy Crush on her tablet. Every evening, she made herself dinner and waited for a call from El, and they talked each other to sleep.

The lack of something to do bothered Audrey, but not nearly as much as the lack of having her wife there, in person.
