Interestingly, when I read the original French version, the stated moral was not to be curious...which bothered me so much that I'm currently writing a story that's my own take on Bluebeard.

Yeah, I've seen that version, with the overt moral. I think it's an interesting story, and ripe for revisiting. I hope I can see what you come up with.
