The store keeps not having Annie's Mac and Cheese (the regular kind, in the purple box so I have to eat the Arthur-shaped ones. I don't really like Arthur, but I like to pretend I'm eating little Radiohead bears.
Aww, that's a shame, because I love Arthur. I'll still watch the show if I catch it on PBS, and it's my goal to buy the books for my roommate's baby :)
I didn't mean to come down on anyone's love of Arthur. I just got annoyed when I read one where there was a pet dog eating off the floor and another dog in clothes eating at a table in a restaurant.
Ha! True, I'd never thought of that. It's weird in animal cartoons where the animals have pets. It's like, Mickey Mouse's pet was Pluto, who couldn't talk and walked on all fours, but he's friends with Goofy, who's also a dog but walks on two legs. Weird.
Perhaps. That's how it was with me. Arthur's New Glasses is one of the first books I can remember being introduced to in my elementary school's library. It's always held a nostalgic pull for me since.
I encountered them after the picturebook stage, I think. It's funny, now, to get a bunch of them together and see how he's gotten way more "human" looking over the years; the first ones have completely different character designs.
