My observations for this week--now in an almost timely manner!
Fake American newscaster--complete with Fake American Gothic couple!
Yeah, I do miss that starfield intro. Will ever DW post be ill-considered nostalgia about Old Who?
"One trip"... we'll see. So is he doing the whole "one trip... maybe one more" thing to suck her in, or adjust himself? Or is she still on trial?
Aww, Gallifrey reference. I like his pause and his lack of emo "lonely god" bit. So far anyway.
Aww, nostalgia for someplace he deliberately left 100s of years ago. I guess that's how it works, though.
He likes New Earth, doesn't he? Bit of a humanity fetish, this one. Not that we didn't know that already.
Wait; maybe it's a cat!nun fetish. Hey, it happens.
Why would a "new" Earth keep New Jersey? You'd think they'd want to improve on the original.
"You're taking me to the same planets you took her." Good to address the "rebound" thing, though. I think.
Why do they insist on setting it in New New York if they can't get any Americans to talk in it?
This little blonde urchin is kind of cute; in a really weird way. Looks familiar, too.
Lots of people have got lost on the "motorway" in NJ, sweetie.
Oh, yelling! Excellent. Though not very effective, I see.
Good old companioning--getting in danger. Though not hardly her fault.
Haha, the drugs come in stickers! Like those LSD scares from elementary school. Don't take stickers from strangers, folks. Though I never understood what that would get the dealers--I mean, why would they send little kids on drug trips, when they have no money and no comprehension of what's going on?
Good work, Doctor. Got your new companion dead. I wonder how many have only lasted one trip, that weren't worth filming?
Ooh, he's shouty again. I dunno if he's very scary, though, you know? More like a growly spaniel or something.
Hahahahah!!! Need 3 for the HOV lane!!
Her "honesty" sticker looks like it's superimposed on another. That might be important.
Or not.
The NJ Turnpike just *feels* like 6 years, guys! But at least there are rest stops named after people you've never heard of.
I don't know, but traffic satire seems tired. Maybe I'm tired. Or jaded.
Aliens always pick up some variant of British isles accent. And, um... kittens? That creeps me out. How does that work, genetically? It must be weird to have a whole litter. When do they get all... half human?
I like the picture of the cat/girl couple. Above the kids' bed.
Yay, I love old lesbians! With knitting. It's too bad it's still scandalous, though. I mean, if the cat is bothered. Even if it's just a joke, y'know? LOL gay agenda!Rusty!
The Doctor, showing off? I can't imagine! Goodness, is he admitting a mistake?
"Insane... and a bit magnificent." The new tagline of Doctor Who.
His method's a bit brilliant, even if it's terribly reliant on chance. Make that, impossible.
It's a bit of a one-liner: IMAGINE A FUTURE... WHERE YOUR ENTIRE LIFE IS RUSH HOUR. A bit Soylent Green.
I don't know what that black furry thing is supposed to be. Sort of a were!Wookie?
Cat nun with a gun. I'm scared.
Actually? Giant crabs? Much scarier. Actually, that's not satire. That's true. I've seen it!
Oh, and by the way, I'm not sure that human waste is a viable source of nutrients. Not for very long, anyway.
Bet Martha's regretting that whole "one trip more" thing.
Hehe, he's wearing dark socks with his light Chucks. And he seems to think no one's ever brought up the whole "millions of people trapped on the Motorway" thing.
Aw, too bad. Bliss is fatal! That's a nice message, isn't it? Happiness is Death.
RTD really liked the Face of Bo. I guess I can't blame him. It's an amusing recurrence.
I'm surprised the Doctor hasn't heard about this before; is this how things are "supposed" to be, or is it another wrong turn?
"Okay guys--don't breathe!"
He really needs to tell her he's not gonna... well, unless he does? It's not like he can be ignorant of the fact that humans have sex. Girl's clearly receptive. But I'm glad she's questioning her presence here, her relationship with him.
Martha's really rather pretty.
Mmm, glasses!! Speaking of pretty. Or cute, maybe. Haha, I like his "wait, what?" looking around when the power doesn't come on.
Aww, Face of Bo! You shouldn't have!
The Doctor's eyes on the tv are SO BIG. He's a little intense.
"You are not alone" could mean lots of things. I mean, Time Lordy things, or Martha's with you, or... anything. I haven't been spoiled for this, though I know there are big spoilers out there, so I imagine we're meant to expect some sort of blast from the past. I won't worry myself by speculating. Could only lead to disappointment.
But there's *always* another Skywalker, isn't there?
Good, Martha, setting your foot--or butt-down. He hasn't sufficiently explained himself.
Though I'm a little surprised at the Gallifrey-memories coming out. Nine never would have, I think. Though I miss him, too.
Overall, I liked it better than last week. Though I guess none of the plots themselves have impressed me a lot; then again, I don't so much watch tv for plotting alone. I wish the Doctor and Martha hadn't been separated for so much of it; I see it'll happen again next week, too. What would he do without someone to put in peril?
Come to think of it, what does he do?
Next week: Even faker Americans! Please, wasn't sitting through Jeeves and Wooster do America enough punishment? I know we mangle your accents, but please. Oh great, and now I know the Daleks are back.
