"Rocky Horror - The Ranting" by yours truly.

I hate Tim Curry.

I just want to make that clear. He is so darn icky. Seriously, I can barely watch that man's face without getting this sick feeling in my stomach.

But.

(There's always a but.)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

OMG.

Seriously.

Frank N' Further rocks my socks. He IS teh shit, even if I really dislike Tim Curry. And he's kinda ew-ish as Frank, too, but at least he's cool, cocky, bitchy, and his voice is perfect for the songs.

And that corset.

Oh dear.

And the stay-ups.

*smiles weakly and shakes head*

It's so weird it's good.

So... yeah. Now I'm officially a fan of RHPS.

I saw it once several years ago. Some scenes were still stuck in my mind until yesterday, when I finally saw it again (and NOT in the middle of the night, like last time).

Like when Rocky has come alive, and Frank is singing "in seven days, I can make you a man".

I've remembered that scene and that song for about 4 years. I remember my main impression of it was that it was Weird. With a capital W. The cross-dressing didn't really bother me then, and it doesn't now, either.

When I saw it the first time I probably raised both eyebrows at Frank's clothing and makeup, though.

Hm.

I want to dress up as Magenta at a movie convention sometime.

Or at a masquerade.

Wouldn't that be teh spiff?

Too bad I can't sing, though. But I still want Magenta's dress. It rocks.

And Riff Raff. Without the baldness and his weird back he would actually look good. Lucius Malfoy-ish, really.

And the music.

OMG.

Wonderful.

I just love "Sweet Transvestite", "I Can Make You A Man" and "I'm Going Home".

I can make you a man. That's the one; the melody that stayed in my head after having heard it just once. That's what makes a good song.

Speaking about songs (and leaving the subject that is RHPS); I just learned the Brokeback Mountain melody on guitar. You know, the one you hear in the trailer. At least I know the beginning of it.

Really easy chords, too; G, Dm, C, G. Once again we have a melody you really recognize and that can stay in your head forever.

Those chords are are so simple. One can play them all the time, and it sounds so unoriginal. But when played in the correct way, the Brokeback way... then it's really original, and fantastic.

Speaking about Brokeback Mountain; best quote from when some friends and I saw it; "How long is it?"

Said by one of my very religious male friends during the tent sex scene.

...

... He WAS referring to how long the movie was, but you can imagine how us others interpreted it. Sex scene and all.

*grins*

Cheers for now...

ranting, music, rhps, movies, really long post
