Well boys just suck it hard like whoaaaa. so, I would just like to say that yes, I do know the boyyy u are talking about. He is awesome so I doubt it would be heartbreaking if you gave him a letter about your feelings for him or had a friend tell him. You know he wouldnt make a big deal about it and he would still love you just as much even if he doesnt have the same feelings back. So, I think you should. Its best for all situations. I mean, you get it off your chest and then its all on his shoulders. If he takes the letter as a motive to make a move, Im happy for you and him.
