And then there was Mac

So I've made the switch to a Mac Book. Weird, I know, but I couldn't resist anymore. I was just fed up with all of the PC based laptops that I've encountered lately, and the stark simplicity and minimalism of the MacBook was just what the doctor ordered. Yes, I got the black one - not really a surprise.

The screen on this system is quite a bit smaller, but also a hell of a lot brighter and crisper than the Acer I've been using for the past several months. The keyboard has a beautiful feel and the overall appearance of the system is appealing. There are also several small nuances that really sell the thing in my mind. The battery charge indicator on the back lights up a number of LEDs to show you how much charge you have left without the need to boot the system. The tiny webcam embedded in the top portion of the screen is superb and well supported with some default software. The CD/DVD drive is a slot-load, doing away with the horrible pop-doors that most laptops sport. And finally, the price was right - coming in at around $1500 plus tax, it's not a hugely expensive endeavor to get yourself into one of these.

In other important news - I finished the main part of Dead Rising for the first time last night. Now I've gone into "overtime mode" where you realize that you've been infected with zombie bugs and have to wander around finding ingredients that - in theory - will combine to cure you. The main quests of the game was decent enough drape over what is essentially just a happy zombie killing spree. Fortunately, the game has a good amount of replayability built in (I'm only level 30 of 50 and there are several 'scoop' missions that I haven't even attempted yet).
