Greetings from the FUTURE (sorta)

Beta 2 of Windows Vista is running on my laptop and, despite the fact that it's obviously still in beta and I will undoubtedly regret it - it has become my primary operating system.

I have no doubt that anyone who really gives a shit has already looked up the myriad screenshots that show all of the nifty "glass" effects that are built in to Vista. But the real shocker is that it honestly is better and smoother than XP ever was - and it's still in beta!  Once you use the new and improved Windows Explorer, you'll quickly wonder how the hell you functioned with the old piece of shit.  I really think that folks are going to be impressed whenever Vista finally arrives in the hands of the public.

Oh yeah - today is our first wedding anniversary.  We woke up in a tent in Smithville this morning and will likely finish the day by watching X-Men 3.  Not too shabby a day all in all.  Unfortunately, the gift that I bought Val didn't arrive in time for me to give it to her today.  It'll almost certainly show up at work tomorrow - bright and early.  Normally I wouldn't really care overmuch, but I actually paid for the expedited shipping and now it doesn't even matter.  Fuck.

Also - I have my first sunburn of the year.  The sun is trying to kill me, by the way.

All for now.  Sorry I haven't updated more lately.  Work has been insane.  I'll try to do better.

vista, summer, weekend, family
