mmm.... Monday morning coffee.
Excellent weekend as weekends go. Some friends threw an awesome house-party at which I became extremely inebriated. Best part? Walking distance from my bed. We even got to see some awesome dramatics between some girl and her extremely hammered boyfriend. She kicked his ass. It was hilarious.
I'm about 25% of the way through the last level (19) of Guild Wars. I even made it over to Tyria where there are several new quests to occupy my time and get me through to level 20. My main goal right now is collecting enough money to craft myself some decent armor so that I don't get so easily pwned by the level 20+ mobs that seem ubiquitous in Kaineng City. I also snagged my first
Capture Signet, though with all honesty - I haven't got the first clue who to use it on to score some awesome Assassin skillz. Research is in order. Our guild - the Supplicants of Balthazar (SoB) is sitting tight with only 5 members but perhaps once we get a Guild Hall we can start recruiting some n00bz and forging them into an elite fighting force the likes of which only God himself has seen before.
Today, I'm dicking around (finally) with our new (and first) server here at the college. It's a little guy designed only to run a financial management package, but it's nifty none-the-less. On top of actual software install I will be attaching the rails and inserting it into my little wheelie rack (which reminds me of an R-2 unit). This excites me far more than it realistically has a right to.
I'd also like to point out that I'm in the market for some decent video podcasts. If anyone knows of something that is consistently good - please let me know via comment. I'd really rather avoid the whole long process of downloading piles of garbage to find the single gem. God damn internet.
I'd also like to point out that I have found a new friend via X-Box Live Arcade. It's called
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and it has completely eaten my soul. So far, my high score is a shade over 140k, which only puts me past the first of several score achievements. I believe the penultimate achievement is 1 million. The game is brilliant in many ways. First off, it's a game in the scientific sense of the word. It ascribes to game theory in the same way that chess or checkers does. Each 'piece' has it's own rules of movement and behaves according to those rules in predictable ways. However, put enough pieces on a board and turn on the real time and suddenly things aren't simple at all. The game is definitely worth the price - 400 X-Box points which is a few bucks worth. Interestingly enough, another
gem is on it's way to X-Box Live Arcade. I may loose my 360 to my wife is she catches wind of it.
