I'm sick. I have picked up something from one of the other gamers during Gildor last week. The culprit had just flown in from Mexico and was complaining about feeling under the weather. Now I feel under the weather. Directly under it in fact.
I ran a game last night for 3 of my regular 4 players. I used a sort of bastardized version of the new World of Darkness rules, which I think I've decided I'm quite fond of. I also like the fact that the rules were printed in a generic "core book" that only has a smattering of setting, leaving the rest of the particulars to the individual fat-splats. I had the characters wake up as their cryogenic chambers finished thawing them. They had no idea who they are and what they were doing. As they moved through the first few scenes, they determined that they were some of military team and that they were supposed to be on some sort of reconnaissance mission. They also find that the world itself is highly irradiated and that pretty much everything has been destroyed. We finished the session as they rolled into a desolated small town full of zombies. It came off fairly well. I enjoy the "no memory" start-up, especially when the players don't have a lot of meta-game knowledge of the setting. Since this particular setting spawned in my brain over the last few weeks, they obviously had no knowledge of the setting at all.
Anyway, I've been couch-ridden since Monday.
Eating lotus mostly. I've finished watching "Band of Brothers" finally. Very decent miniseries. Tear-jerking toward the end.
For anyone who is a Bjork fan, check
this out. She did the
soundtrack for it.
