How to Save Your Own Life
I don't wish for my readers to believe that I am anti-Obama. I especially do not wish my neighbors to believe that I am anti-Obama. However, I am pro-health care. I believe in universal access to necessary services (including procedures, equipment, and medication) for all . I believe, and empirical data supports me, that "mental" illness is as debilitating and economically costly as "medical" illness. In many cases, mortality rates are comparable. There should be no discrimination between the extent and level of care any patient receives for their illness(es). In this nation, that care should be of the highest degree available, according to a concensus between the patient's doctor and the clearest current understanding of the fellows of clinical medicine and psychology.

Maybe none of this effects you. . . yet. It already affects someone you know, and even I am not so ego-centric to assume that I'm that one person. Stop checking the locks, pull your head out of the toilet and let these people know that you are important and keeping you alive matters.
