My name is Austin.
My friends call me Alex. Some choose to use alexander. i'm not too picky on that.
that was when I was fourteen. i'm eighteen now. and around the end of october i'll be nineteen.
had braids once.
my dad's parents are from barbados. while my mother's background is split between england and jamaica.
that's me now.
i'm very interested in reading. art and photography too, although i don't have an eye for it myself.
i don't play many sports. cars are not a big deal in my life either. music. books. travel. and friends. i used to play video games quite a bit too.
now i'll pick them up every now and then. resident evil. guitar hero. halo.
i run cross country and track and field. i also took spanish in high school.
i've been playing the trombone since the 7th grade.
i'm learning bass now.
music is one of the things that i love in life. weather it's playing it. listening to it. watching it. or creating it.
[ taste of chaos european tour 2006]
i pretty much listen to everything. right now i'm pretty into:
the number twelve looks like you
portugal. the man
some girls
the blood brothers
and the locust
i listen to the fall of troy a lot
death cab for cutie
cursive
pretty much anything. i get stuck on certain genres sometimes, but i'm open for anything. from either learning to play something new on my bass or just seeing a band live.
the threeoneg record label has some very amazing musicians.
the same can be said for saddle creek.
ferret records.
and many other indie labels.
i'm pretty friendly with most people. but everyone should be right?
i guess my negatives would be that i'm fairly sensitive to most things.
i'm also a bit calloused with a lot of other things. not quite sure what's with that.
"OK, so... so... sometimes I lie. I mean, I'm weird, man. About random stuff too, I don't even know why I do it. It's like... it's like a tick, I mean sometimes I hear myself say something and think, Wow, that wasn't even remotely true."
That’s an issue most of the time for me. I’ve learned or trained myself to not really speak unless I have too. When I was younger I used to talk all the time in school, constantly being reprimanded. My grandmother says that you've got two ears and one mouth, you're supposed to listen twice as much as you talk.
planning things out is a regular event with me. writing letters. visiting people. going to local shows. letters first off in my opinion are great. when you get snail mail it means something.
someone took the time to write as opposed to email or myspace. not that those other mediums of conversation are less sincere. i just like surprises i guess.
i recently moved from heidelberg, germany where i had some of the best friends in the world.
chris has stuck with me since the first night i moved to germany.
my experiences in regards to music and the way i've become so involved and interested with it i owe all to him.
he's going to be the most badass writer/musician you've ever heard of.
he's going through the rotc program at loyola unviersity in new orleans.
I graduated In June and worked for the summer at the local cinnabon. my father is in the military so i move around about every three years or so.
i was born in seattle, washington, but moved to italy around the time i turned eight.
disneyland paris
ride.
train berlin bound
kaiserslautern
i loved having the opportunity to grow up for about half of my life in europe.
a lot of people ask about the states and europe. "which is better?"
it's just different. sitting on a park bench that's older than my country.
you can't see this statside.
we had our prom in a castle.
come the end of august i'll be attending washington state university.
for now my plan is to study history and i'll see what happens after that.
my last summer in germany was pretty great.
i'm currently looking for a job. being a budgeted/sleep deprived college student isn't appealing to me. besides my junior year maybe sooner. maybe later i would like to return to europe and back pack around. berlin. munich. venice. florence. salzburg. paris. three years off seems like a good round number. (even if it's odd)
