Posting Guidelines
Hi everyone,
We thought it might be helpful and/or insightful to share our criteria for what we link on the newsletter, in case you've ever wondered how we decide what to post and what not to. Think of this as an expansion to our FAQ.
The newsletter is coded manually using a template. Kink Me, Merlin fills and updates are gathered daily at our Pinboard archive (http://pinboard.in/u:mxa_news) and the rest of the links are collected from our watch list (http://mxa-watching.livejournal.com/friends). We will do our best to post a newsletter every day; however, editions may be missed if a mod has a personal commitment and no backup can be found or if there are too few links to warrant posting a newsletter. All missed entries will be posted in the next edition.
- Because there can be numerous sources for news, we generally link to the first entry we see on our friends list (reverse chronological order) or to the entry with the most comprehensive information.
- We will link to news regarding Bradley, Colin, and general 'Merlin' related news, but we will not link to news regarding other actors (unless Bradley or Colin is also involved).
- For fanfiction, fanart, or multimedia, Merlin/Arthur or Bradley/Colin must be a main pairing. We may also link entries with M/A or B/C as a secondary pairing, but only if the primary pairing is not one of them paired with somebody else.
- We will link to fanfiction, fanart, or multimedia with only Merlin, Arthur, Bradley, or Colin as long as they are not paired with anyone else.
- We will link to GEN fanfiction, fanart, or multimedia as long as the focus of the fic is on Merlin and Arthur.
- We will warn for all other pairings that include Merlin, Arthur, Bradley, or Colin. (For example: Arthur/Gwen, Merlin/Gwaine.) We will not warn for other character pairings. (Note: We cannot be held responsible if the author/artist does not disclose additional pairings.)
- Trigger warnings and pairing warnings will be indicated by an asterisk (*) following the story title. Hover your mouse over the link to see them. (Note: We cannot be held responsible for missed warnings if the author fails to disclose them.)
- Fanfiction is categorized as Gen (friendship or no pairings), Pre-M/A, M/A, B/C, M/A+, B/C+ (the "+" means that the story contains threesomes or moresomes).
- In icon posts, there must be at least five Merlin, Arthur, Bradley, Colin, M/A, or B/C icons.
- If there is no summary provided with the fanfic, we will use the first line of the story.
- If there is no word count provided by the author, we will use ??? in its place
- We will not link to locked entries; however, if the link provided in the locked entry is open, we will link to that. (For example: If a story is posted to the bradleycolin LJ community (which requires adult stories to be locked), we will link to the author's personal LJ, or where the story is posted, as long as that entry is not also locked.)
- We will link to all 'Merlin' related LJ communities, challenges, and fests, provided M/A or B/C is a welcome pairing.
