Egha had called me last night to work out the logistics for our tattoo night. she also told me that Aunt Vickey wanted to come with us and make sure we weren't going some place unsavory. i was like "oh, gimme a fuckin break." Egha said she'd said the same thing, but we were stuck with her.
this turned out not to be a bad thing at all.
the tattoo place was clean and the people were very nice. it was just the owner (Gary) and the chick who does the piercings (Sam). we got there too late for me to get a tattoo, so i opted for a piercing, but had to wait for Egha to finish her tattoo appointment because they only have one chair. so we watched Egha get tattooed and chatted a lot with the people there. one of Egha's friends from beauty school, Audrey, stopped by to say hi, as did a few of the shop regulars. i got to see lots of people's work by this same guy as well as talk to people who were regular piercing customers. Aunt Vickey asked a lot of questions.
i have to say, when i talked to Gary on the phone i was really nervous, but he turned out to be an incredible artist. Audrey has six tattoos by him and they're all very graceful and feminine. the shoppies who dropped by showed me their tattoos and the same could be said for the work he did on them. Egha's tattoo turned out beautifully.
then it was my turn. it took a lot of bracing myself, but i think Aunt Vickey needed more than i did lol. i held her hand while i got the piercing done, and Egha had to hold Aunt Vickey's hand lol. i went into my happy place long before the needle went through, so i felt a sharp pinch, announced that this was a stupid thing to do, and gritted my teeth until it was done. then i was fine. Aunt Vickey, on the other hand, had to go across the shop to sit down and have a glass of water. she kept asking me if i was fine. i was all smiles by then, mostly out of amusement of me being the one who was fine, even though it was my bellybutton that just had a chunk taken out of it.
we made an appointment for three weeks from now, when Egha and i both had free, so i could go back for my tattoo. Gary's going to do the tidy-up work on it that it needs, as well as play around with it some more. i had brought a case with two disks in it, one of which was a set of pictures that i took my inspiration from for my tattoo sketch. the other was one of my ren faire pics. i told him, you won't need that disk, but you're welcome to look at the pics because i look hot as a pirate. he raised an eyebrow and popped the ren disk into the computer lol. and i swear i caught him saving some of the pictures. hee.
sufficiently adrenalized (me) and in need of a drink (mostly Aunt Vickey) we headed back to beacon to go to the Frog. as usual, it was like a high school reunion for me. there was a guy i've known since elementary school, but we hardly talked and often didn't even like each other. but tonight he proclaimed that i was his best friend, he loved me, thought about me all the time, and told me i was beautiful. i tried to stay away as much as i could. we befriended some guy at the other end of the bar and ended up buying him a shot on our last round. drink count: two fuzzy navels for Aunt Vickey, three Malibu and cokes for Egha and i, three kamikaze shots for each of us and one for the guy we talked to. he flirted with all of us and i found out later from a friend of his that he's married, but hey, it was nice to be flirted with by a handsome guy.
we headed to the 84 Diner from there for a nosh and to sober up. just got home maybe half an hour ago. it was a blast. we trashed Aunt Vickey's boyfriend and tried to convince her to dump him. cheese fries rule. i have a shiny bellybutton. yeah, ok, i'm not quite sober yet. i keep typing everything inside out. i should sleep soon, but i'm still kinda wired. i want to show everyone my button.
