A changing week

Jun 11, 2010 12:05

The first change was the loss of little Desi - de ratta. On Wednesday morning I had been sitting up late - 3am - catching up with programmes on BBC 7 before I went to bed, only to find Desi lying very still in the corner of the cage.  He was so cold that I thought he was dead but when I picked him up, he kicked and blinked his eyes.  I tried warming him up, though it was obvious that nothing was going to delay his going. In the end, he died a couple of hours later, lying on my chest, covered in Poppy's blanket.

It was a sad moment, even though he was the least sociable of my rats.  He, like Ali, was about three years old so grew to a great old age.  William is now disgruntled because, although there was never any great chemistry between them, there was always someone else there.  I'm going to have to add "get one or two baby rats" to my urgent list.

Yesterday I had my hair cut free - I love these salons that want models and I'm booked in for highlights next week, though for that I have to pay.

This afternoon I go to the dentist and hopefully get my computer back from Jono after the third re-format in 12 months.  My problems with the laptop (which I'm using now) go on apace.  It suddenly won't open a web page, even though the connection is working properly.  I'm just about at my wits' end with this bloody machine.

r.i.p., computer, animals
