(
The Way Things Accumulate )
I once wrote about Peter and you and I have very much the same take on him. He's not evil, just sad and frustrated and ashamed and totally misunderstood. Nobody is deliberately mean to him, but he is still, somehow, different and not included. It sucks to be average (or slightly above average) in a kingdom of superstars, does it not? That brilliant moment with Sirius illustrates that beautifully.
And I love how honest and absolutely aware he is - and how well you show that.
(They don’t know what it’s like to have no identity.)
Peter Pettigrew, the individual, had slowly drifted away, left only to admire and aspire to be those
greater than him. Schooling has long since finished, war has begun, and the school friends have each found themselves needing to stand on their own two feet. Yet he seems like the only one who isn't quite able to do it. Only a shell of his once existent self remains, leaving him completely and utterly dependent.
You've created a Peter who is, at once, sympathetic and strangely unlovable. Well, not quite unlovable, but certainly needy. Good job!
