The new store opened on Wednesday and it's been very busy. The sales for the store are higher than they projected (I, without any aids, could tell that their projections were low. I am not sure why they were so incompetent in assuming realistic projections.) So this leaves the store both understaffed (a decently simple problem) and, much more difficult, poorly designed. We have only 8 registers when, in my opinion, there should be 12 or so. When I looked at the floor plan two months ago my first thought was, "Only 8 registers?" In any case, the store is crowded with very long lines from 4:30 each afternoon until about 8 at night. But enough about work...
Two new people have moved into my house--Clay and Claire. They both seem to be very busy and I haven't really seen them at all so I can't say much about that. In a week or so I hope to host our, I think, 4th annual Halloween clothing swap. It should be a good time for the new housemates to slip into the thick of things (did I just blend a bunch of idioms?)
And lastly, Phil asked if Jordan and I wanted to go to Big Sur in a week for a weekend camping trip with him and Max (another housemate.) I've still yet to have gone there but I'm excited and just need to plan to get the weekend off. I don't really know what to expect as I've never really seen any photos from Big Sur and have no idea what it looks like but it seems pretty popularly described as "most beautiful place ever."
Oh, and lastly, I am going to see Richard Dawkins speak tomorrow night; about which I am very excited.
