Settling In
I suppose I should update people with how things are going since I moved! I am now living and working in Eagan, MN. If you need my updated address, please email me.
Job stuff: This job has me on my feet A LOT and I would qualify it as moderate physical activity. Quite a bit of walking around, plus opening and closing truck trailers. I end up feeling physically drained after work each day. There's also a lot to keep track of, so there's a mental work out in there too, though it's not so draining in that respect as my previous job was.
Apartment: I have an apartment all to myself about 10 minutes away from work! It was a bit more than I wanted to spend for rent, but it will work out well. It's still not "my place" yet, but it's getting there. I'm slowly filling in furniture and other things as I realize I need them. (Yay for IKEA.)
Travel/Cons: So, the part that I know some people were wondering about... First off, no MFF for me this year, and it seems unlikely I'll make it in the future either (December is blacked out for leave at work). It looks like I might be able to get time off for Furry Migration (new local convention), so that will be nice. I think there's a good chance I'll be able to make Megaplex/Orlando/Disney World next year, but I won't know until February.
[Time off is going to be based on who requested the time off first and seniority (I'm the lowest on that list, though). The good news is this means it's not quite so hard to get time off... However, it also means that I'll only be able to take off when other people aren't taking off.]
Social: Now that I'm settling into a routine, I'm hoping to be more active locally. It will take time, though, as I don't have Saturday and Sunday off.
Other: I'll be heading back down to Kansas the last week in July to get more (or the rest) of my stuff.
