I visit the craft store and frame shop every so often to root through the rejects. These are perfectly good frames that whoever ordered it didn't want, and they often give amazing discounts. Today I stopped in. While I was waiting for the access to clear, I overheard a MSgt ordering a frame and mat for a military picture - guy in uniform, American flag background, etc. He wanted it to be ready for a ceremony tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. (Normally these things take a week or so.) I began to bristle a bit - why does he consider himself so special? etc. But then I heard the reason.
This was for the military funeral for one of the airman who was killed at Frankfurt airport last week, and the MSgt wanted the framed picture to use during the ceremony.
The shop assistant promised to have it ready by 6 pm tonight - no charge.
