Whew, we're home and almost all the stuff is put away. We have some great photos, only a few people got badly sunburned, we gave a fantastic surprise party for GL's birthday and she cried (yes, it was 3 months early, but everyone was there and they won't be on the actual day), we played hearts with 12 people (never again) and spent more than $600 for groceries for the week. (That's a lot of food, but we were 15 people and there were teenagers.)
We had good weather, good waves, hot sand, the world's greatest frozen margaritas and generally good times. Only a few harsh words were spoken (that I know of) and we gave and received lots of hugs and kisses.
This group only gets together every 2 years, and most of them travel a good few thousand miles to get here. Oddly, the ones who live the closest never manage to make it for the full week.
One night the 5 teenage girls dragged mattresses into one room and had a party all night - the next morning they all had fluorescent pink toenails. All 3 of the people born in 1989 are majoring in pyschology. We brought a photo scanner and a slide scanner and digitized almost all of GL photos, hundreds and hundreds of them, and made CDs of the pix for all attendees who cared for one.
The margaritas were truly fine thanks to B1, which was good because American beer tastes like someone mixed it half with water. One night S drank 6 beers and you couldn't even tell! Most disgusting dish: cocoa puffs with chocolate milk and hot fudge sauce. Best dish: nachos.
Only 10 more days til home! it seems as though I've been gone for a loooooooooooong time.
