Frustration

If you want to work for the federal government, you better have one of the following:
A  current career/career conditional Federal civilian employee (that is, you already have a federal job)
  • Military Spouse/Family Member Preference (overseas only)? (that is, you are married to an active duty service member)
  • Veterans' Preference? (that is, you are a veteran)
  • Person separated from the armed forces under honorable conditions after 3 years or more of continuous military service? (that is, you are a veteran)
  • Person with non-competitive appointment eligibility? (that is, you already work for the federal government)
  • Current federal employee in an excepted service position covered by an interchange agreement?
  • Eligible for reinstatement? (that is, a former federal employee)

In other words, if you don't have a federal job, you can't get one unless you are married to an active duty service member or are a veteran.  You can't even look at the job announcements unless you meet those criteria!

Basically, I'm screwed.

Except of course if you want to change diapers in a child care center, monitor children in an after school program, dish up tacos at the food court, or work in a bookstore (weekends only).

WAH!  I have skills, I know what I'm doing, I can add value to places, I'm already over here....  no matter.  WAH!
