Hardy Boyz say schedules make wrestling toughest sport around
Professional wrestling is one of the most demanding sports around, thanks to the fast-paced schedule, said wrestler Matt Hardy.

He and his brother Jeff, who have competed as the Hardy Boyz, were in Laredo on Monday prepping for their appearance at the Laredo Entertainment Center tonight.

The two were coming off two-day appearances in Monterrey and Mexico City.

“Our guys are the toughest, most determined athletes in any sport because our schedule is so demanding,” Matt said.

After Laredo, Matt will go on to fight in the ECW Championship as part of Cyber Sunday in Phoenix, Ariz.

Matt, the reigning champion, said he doesn’t know who his opponent tonight will be, but he said it will likely have to do with his upcoming appearance on Cyber Sunday, where he will face one of three competitors determined by an ongoing audience vote.

Jeff, the quieter of the brothers, will be taking part in tonight’s WWE SmackDown event.

Although he didn’t know who he’d be facing tonight, either, Jeff said it would likely have to do with the possible Cyber Sunday match up between him, Triple H and Vladimir Koslov.

Wrestling fans can vote via text message whether they want to see Triple H defend his title Sunday against Jeff Hardy, Koslov or both.

“Jeff better watch his back in the ring, because the Russian will do whatever he can to make Jeff look bad,” Matt said.

Tonight’s SmackDown main event will feature Triple H against The Undertaker.

Professional wrestling is a combination of performance and fighting, he said. When Jeff is in the ring with Koslov, it’s closer to a fight, Matt said, as the brothers relaxed in their limousine before lunch.

“It’s an amazing combination of both,” he said.

The brothers visited patients at Doctors Hospital as part of their trip to Laredo.

“I like Laredo; we’ve always had a good time here,” Matt said. “I dig being in Texas because there’s good weather and lots of wrestling culture and wrestling fans here.”

The brothers will be back in Texas next year for Wrestlemania, taking place April 5 in Houston. Tickets for that event go on sale Nov. 8.

Tickets for tonight’s event, which begins at 6 p.m., can be purchased through Ticketmaster or the LEC box office.
