The thesis is in the bindery. I finished proofing and printing at lunchtime today, and walked over to ExMemSec's office to copy it. After discovering that his copier has a max load of 40 copies, that he didn't know how to press one button for 3 lots of 40, but had to press the button again and again for the second and third set, and that the printer jammed twice on the first batch of 40 sheets .... I suggested we went to the university copy shop. Who very efficiently copied it, but ExMemSec by then had to go off to his afternoon meeting. So I had to walk to the bindary, and then tried to walk home. I made it as far as the walls of York, before giving up and sitting in a coffee shop until himself came to rescue me and bring me home. I am now putting my feet up and having an evening off. Only the DVD to make now, and five days to do it in! (Although I really am trying for two, so I can hand in on Friday and have the weekend to do things like sort out the bathroom flooring).
While waiting for the photocopying I went to the library to borrow a novel. I was overwhelmed by the choice. Where to start? It has been nearly ten years since I read novels avidly. In the end I picked Octavia Butler's first, and a Marina Warner that I hadn't read yet. And did not start either.
