Please Sir, May I Have Some More?

Every Lent, I give up something that will help me in the long run. Sometimes they are things that help me out financially, like the time I gave up text messages (I was at 30 text messages a day!). Other times, they are things to make me a better person, like the time I gave up cussing. And then there are the times that are guaranteed to make me crazy during the 40 day duration. This is one of those times. I gave up...caffeinated drinks. Well, really, I gave up coffee. I expanded it to caffeinated drinks because a friend of mine pointed out that I may start subbing tea for coffee as a means around it. I probably wouldn't because as much as I love tea, it's just not the same, but it's a good point. Side story: I remember I gave up "second servings" one year and ended up just having a humongous first serving instead...Defeats the purpose, right?

Anyway, not having at least my morning coffee is DRIVING ME INSANE! I'm used to having at least one cup a day, and I especially miss it during those lazy Sunday mornings when I eat my breakfast, sit out on my patio, and just enjoy the warm, sunny day...ok, so it's been raining the past few days, but still! COFFEE!!

I feel like this guy, except the shaking is from withdrawals rather than the caffeine intake...

*sigh* Not that coffee is bad for me per se, and really, one cup a day (alright, two sometimes) is not that bad. It's just...this is a way to really test my discipline and in the long run, I'm hoping I won't be as dependent on coffee as I am now. Friends say I will probably go right back to the habit, but we'll see. I've gotten better at the other things I've given up so I'm sure some improvement will come out of this (torture).
